- STEP 041 > Now keep pressing the blade against the foamcore edge and cut all the way across.
- STEP 042 > Do the same for the other sides. Press your blade along the foamcore side edge and cut all the way through.
- STEP 043 > Remember to try and NOT ANGLE your knife.
- STEP 044 > You want to keep the blade as close to 90 degrees with the table surface as you can.
- STEP 045 > After all 4 sides are cut you have a perfect DOUBLE THICK SIDE layer of foamcore covered with a layer of foamie. Now repeat the same cutting technique on the rest of your body template pieces.
- STEP 046 > We now have 4 body sides (double thickness) and 2 top and bottom single layer pieces. It's time to start gluing them together.
- STEP 047 > What we want to do is attach each of the sides to the top and bottom flush and cantered to allow a perfect decal application later on.
- STEP 048 > Start with a small line of hot glue on any of the top or bottom squares.
- STEP 049 > You want to place the decal side (left image) and bring it close to the top piece until they connect.
- STEP 050 > You want the SIDE piece top edge to be FLUSH with the surface of your top or bottom piece.
- STEP 051 > You also want the sides to match up perfectly on each side. It's as simple as that. Let this cool down a little and we can move on to side number 2.
- STEP 052 > Grab your hot glue gun and place a small line of hot glue along the next edge of your top or bottom foamcore piece.
- STEP 053 > Like before, grab a side piece with the decal facing in, and press it against the top or bottom piece.
- STEP 054 > Remember to make sure it fits just right. You don't want it sticking out to the left or right side of the top or bottom piece.
- STEP 055 > Also make sure the height is FLUSH with the surface of your top or bottom piece. When you pass your finger, you should not feel any bumps. It should feel like one large smooth area.
- STEP 056 > Now don't worry about the big gap in between the 2 pieces (left image). This is normal and part of the design. This gap is where you will place your straws in order to allow your decal to curve around and not give you a 90 degree sharp corner. If you look at the movie you will see how this reproduces exactly what is on the movie set versions.
- STEP 057 > Let's continue with side number 3. It's so simple and easy there should not be a need to really explain to you anymore what you need to do 🙂
- STEP 058 > Press your next side against the top or bottom piece. Align and keep flush.
- STEP 059 > And last but not least side piece 4. Hot glue along the edge.
- STEP 060 > Place the side piece decal facing inwards along the top or bottom piece remaining edge.
