- STEP 021 > If you don't feel at ease cutting freehand, you can use a ruler to continue cutting along each template piece.
- STEP 022 > When you are done ONE sheet you should have 8 SIDE template pieces like this. Remember if you are only making ONE console - you only need 4 to build. The others can be put aside until you decide to make another.
- STEP 023 > The technique is the same for the Top and Bottom template shapes. You want to start by trimming all the way around the colour shapes.
- STEP 024 > Then align your ruler with a horizontal edge and cut along the line with your X-Acto knife. When you cut - REMEMBER to TRY and keep a 90 degree angle with the table.
- STEP 025 > When all your horizontal wide lines are cut, grab one piece and start cutting the individual squares. Just slice them all the way through.
- STEP 026 > If you aren't comfortable using freehand style, you can use your rulers to guarantee your straight line cut.
- STEP 027 > After a few minutes, all your pieces are cut out. We only need TWO to make ONE console. The rest you can put aside for future builds.
- STEP 028 > Our body pieces are almost all done. We now need to add the second layer of padding to the body SIDES.
- STEP 029 > For this we want to grab a foamie sheet. Mine happens to be black but the colour doesn't really matter as it will be covered with decal skin later on.
- STEP 030 > What we want to do is create a double layer for the body side pieces before we attach them to the top and bottom.
- STEP 031 > Grab your glue stick and cover the entire surface of your foamcore side template.
- STEP 032 > Place it flat onto your foamie sheet. Leave a little extra edges sticking out all around to make sure you will have a perfect double layer piece after we trim the sides later on.
- STEP 033 > Continue with your second piece, a little glue stick all over the foamcore.
- STEP 034 > Place next to the first piece leaving a slight gap and press firmly against the foamie making sure there is a good contact between the 2 sheets.
- STEP 035 > Continue the same steps for your other 2 side pieces. MAKE SURE you have a slight GAP in between all your template foamcores.
- STEP 036 > DO NOT glue the Top and Bottom onto the foamie sheet. There is a different step for these. Just place them aside for now.
- STEP 037 > We are going to want to do a clean cut all around each piece and in order to facilitate this, start by cutting loosely around the horizontal
- STEP 038 > And vertical sides of the 4 template pieces. Put the leftover foamie away for now.
- STEP 039 > Now loosely cut down the vertical centre all the way across to give you 2 glued templates one on top of each other.
- STEP 040 > Now we can easily access all 4 sides of each piece and start cutting precise flush against each side. You want to take your X-Acto knife and EXTEND the blade as far as it will go, Then place it at the top corner of one of your sides, and angle the blade until it touches and leans against the side of your foamcore.
