- STEP 001 > Hey everyone - are you ready to build the easiest of the Hoth Rebel Consoles ? Style "B" comes in 4 different skin varieties so that if you place multiple inside your diorama, they don't just look like copy paste clones. Just like in the movie.
- STEP 002 > These are the materials you will need to make your console "B" - you can find links to Amazon and full descriptions on this link ... https://dioramaworkshop.com/tutorial-materials-list-hoth-echo-base-console-b/
- STEP 003 > The first thing we want to do is print out the template sheets from our Blueprints PDF. The blueprints can be downloaded for free here... https://dioramaworkshop.com/tutorials-blueprints-hoth-echo-base-rebel-console-b-2021/
- STEP 004 > I like to print mine of full size label sheets to save on having to use glue. If you didn't print it on a full size label sheet and used regular paper, simply apply glue stick - NEVER HOT GLUE !!! - instead of peeling the back sheet.
- STEP 005 > When you apply a full size or large size sheet to any surface you want to avoid bubbles and folds. To do this, keep the top LIFTED HIGH (green arrows) and start by pressing lightly at the BOTTOM ONLY all the way across.
- STEP 006 > Then you START at the CENTRE and move your way up a little as you lower the top of the sheet slightly. Move your hand UP and to the LEFT first as you see in the bottom image.
- STEP 007 > Then repeat the same movement, return to the BOTTOM CENTRE but this time go up a little and move towards the RIGHT as in the bottom image.
- STEP 008 > Continue this technique - CENTRE UP then towards the LEFT (bottom image)
- STEP 009 > Centre UP then move to the RIGHT (bottom image)
- STEP 010 > Peel back sheet number 2 - use Glue Stick if you printed on normal paper.
- STEP 011 > Place your sheet on a piece of foamcore. REMEMBER KEEP the TOP LIFTED.
- STEP 012 > Like before - always CENTRE UP and then move to the sides. Left or right but ALWAYS back to the centre first.
- STEP 013 > To make it easier to manipulate, I am rough cutting around the sheet at the top of the paper.
- STEP 014 > And along the right side. I can then put aside the big foamcore for a future build.
- STEP 015 > You should now have 3 template prints mounted on foamcore sheets.
- STEP 016 > For ONE console you only need 4 pieces (what is highlighted in green) to save paper and ink, I designed the print to contain enough templates for 2 consoles.
- STEP 017 > I want to trim around the outside colours first to make it easier to cut out the individual pieces later. Just align your ruler against the templates grey colours and use a X-Acto knife to cut all the way across.
- STEP 018 > Do the same thing on the other 3 sides until all the white outskirts have been removed.
- STEP 019 > Now move onto the sides of each piece. Align the ruler along the colour lines and cut across.
- STEP 020 > Once all 4 double template pieces are cut we can separate each double length into 2 individual template pieces. Align your ruler along the colour edges and slice all the way through with your X-Acto knife. Always be carefull - DON'T CUT YOUR FINGERS !!!
