- STEP 101 > You want to hold your decal skin with the DARK folding guide facing the inside of the beam gap. Align it, pressed against the edge of the beam (5.5cm gap side) and align the fold with the bottom of the beam as well.
- STEP 102 > When you are happy with the positioning, press the entire decal against the foamcore (top image). Now you can start pulling and folding it inwards until the DARK guide starts to wrap around the ceiling beam (bottom image).
- STEP 103 > GENTLY FLIP your ceiling onto its top to expose it's back side. Using your finger, carefully press along the beam's side until it makes full clean 90 degree contact with the edge (top image). Then you can pull the skin towards you and lower it to the foamcore surface. Remember to start at the centre and work your way out. Centre out, Always Centre out (bottom image).
- STEP 104 > Now gently lift the end of the ceiling and start folding and wrapping the outside of the skin towards the beam's backside.
- STEP 105 > Use your finger to swipe along the edge to give the skin a tight bubble free 90 degree corner (left image) Then start pulling and folding the skin at the back until you start to press against the decals other end. (centre image) Finally press down all the way across making full contact with the other half of the decal skin (right image).
- STEP 106 > You can put some Scotch Tape on the seams to make certain the skin never comes off.
- STEP 107 > Your end cap beam is now attached, we can move on the the other side and repeat.
- STEP 108 > Like before, place the skin with the DARK folding guide on the inside facing the ceiling hole and repeat steps 102-107.
- STEP 109 > We now have all the long skin strips in place we can move on to the end caps.
- STEP 110 > Grab a end cap and it will be placed like this against the front beam. See how it looks like a "T" ?
- STEP 111 > Peel your decal sheet.
- STEP 112 > Star by aligning the 2 cuts below the DARK fold side guidelines and the start of the bottom horizontal DARK folding guideline (left image) When you are happy with the placement, start folding over the side flaps (right image).
- STEP 113 > Start at the bottom centre and move your finger to one side, return to centre and now move your finger to the opposite side (left image) Then return to the front of the decal and move your way UP the centre until you pass the end of your "T" (middle image) Last start pressing the side flaps against the edge of your beam to create a nice 90 degree fold and tight connection to the foamcore (right image).
- STEP 114 > Gently flip your ceiling grid to expose the backside again and fold over all the flaps creating nice 90 degree corners.
- STEP 115 > To secure these in place forever, you can add a small piece of Scotch Tape to the overlapping seams,
- STEP 116 > And this is what it looks like when completed. It's not that hard, just align properly and you are all set. Now repeat the same steps on all beams except for the corners, there are slight modifications to do first on the 2 end cap decals.
- STEP 117 > For each corner cap we need to modify slightly the decal for it cannot wrap around the outer edge as it is.
- STEP 118 > Start by gently flipping the ceiling grid on it's front. DO NOT PEEL OR GLUE YET. Take one of your decals and align it against the corner like you see on the left image. Fold over the inner side (left image) and draw a line down the centre of the beam (right image).
- STEP 119 > Fold over the bottom and make a mark with your pencil following the foamcore's edge as close as possible.
- STEP 120 > Take your decal and you can now cut off the excess along the A Line that you drew in Step 118 (left image) Then cut along the line B you drew in Step 119 making sure you STOP as you reach the DARK folding guide colour (right image)
