- STEP 021 > Repeat the same steps with the other half of your 7" plastic plate.
- STEP 022 > You now have 2 identical half pieces that were made from 1 plate and 1/2 a large styrofoam ball.
- STEP 023 > Grab one of your large paper plate halves. You will notice it just happens that this brand, or pattern, has a flat ridge at the center that just happens to be the size of the 7" plastic plate.
- STEP 024 > Take your hot glue gun and place a line of glue along the edge of where the pattern stops (black arrows)
- STEP 025 > Here you can better see what I am trying to explain.
- STEP 026 > Grab your assembled Plastic plate half, and carefully align and gently press down onto the line of hot glue.
- STEP 027 > You can see how the small plastic plate ends just perfect with the larger paper plate's outer patern. If you could not find these exact plates in your area, just try to get 2 sizes that match up to this as close as possible.
- STEP 028 > Your full half is now completed. This is the shape we want for the shield generators. Now to make your other side...
- STEP 029 > As before, place a line of hot glue along the edge of your paper plate's edge patern.
- STEP 030 > Grab the other half of your plastic plate build, and place it as before onto the paper plate and hold a few seconds as the glue cools down.
- STEP 031 > You now have your 2 halves completed. You will just need to make this 3 more times (there are 4 half dome sections for ONE shield generator.
- STEP 032 > When you place your 2 halves side by side, you can start to really see where this is going 🙂
- STEP 033 > Grab a piece of foamcore...
- STEP 034 > Measure 14.5" from the top.
- STEP 035 > Measure 1.5" from the sides.
- STEP 036 > Draw a line between your 2 markings and carefully cut along that line.
- STEP 037 > You now have a strip of foamcore that looks like your ruler HAHAHAH. This will be your center spine that joins the 2 halves together. We need to curve it though, before we can attach this to the plate halves.
- STEP 038 > If you never made a curve piece of foamcore this can be a little tricky and may need some practice on some scrap pieces. What we want to do, is to slice very LIGHTLY every 1 cm or so WITHOUT pressing the blade all the way through to the other side.
- STEP 039 > DO NOT cut with your knife and blade at this angle, you will for sure cut your strip in half or more pieces along the way.
- STEP 040 > Angle your blade so that it is almost flush with the foamcore strip. Start at the top, and SLOWLY and CAREFULLY pull towards you sliding the blade down. DO NOT PRESS HARD, let it slide like a butter knife 🙂
