- Celebration IV brought us our first REAL PIN giveawy. It was very cool to see my art turned 3 dimensional, I also learned that really small text is hard to read and sometimes makes the colors darker, but the quality was GRADE A. You can a MUCH MUCH younger me wearing my pin proudly on the left. Ahhh, to be yound again 😛 LOL.
- A close up of the pin art submitted to us by the vendor for approval.
- If you give pins, you need a place to stick them right ? 🙂 Well I had this snazzy logo I designed for the show and it was perfect for a T-Shirt don't you think ? 🙂
- The T-Shirts were made at the same place that the Star Wars store was printing their own, so I knew the quality would be good. On the front you had my Celebration Diorama Workshop logo and on the back was my first website (NiubNiubsUniverse) and my slogan at the time... Building the Galaxy, One Step at a time. We gave away I think it was 25 T-shirts a day. If you still have yours, they are a TRUE collectors item.
- So not only was 2007 extra special for me, working at ILM for the very first time, but having MY DESIGN be sold on the OFFICIAL STAR WARS website after the show. On the geek side, my head exploded 🙂 It was the first and last time I had this opportunity. Bucket list - Check 🙂
- Celebration IV also was the FIRST convention that we introduced FAN BOOTH BADGES. I designed these and then printed them at the San Francisco apartment and laminated EACH BADGE by hand one at a time. it took FOREVER to make the 500. What was extra special about these, and the reason I wanted to have them to gve to the fans was that I had the opportunity to make a game out of it at the same time.
- After you picked your badge, then flipped it to the other side. If you saw the BASIC background, well sucked to be you - HAHAHAH - kidding, you had your collector's badge then went to build your Ewok masterpiece. However, there was a chance you would flip and see one of the 3 Lucasfilm logos on the back....
- That's right !!! Working at ILM, and being in San Francisco for the first time, allowed me to meet in person with Mary Franklin, the organizer of the entire convention, and my new friends and contacts at ILM and LucasArts, well, they donated a BUNCH of PRIZES for us to give away. So if you turned your badge and saw one of the logos you could look through a huge bin of prizes and select the one you wanted. Lucasarts allowed you to take home games for your PC, Nintendo, Playstation and Xbox. Lucasfilm logo allowed you to bring home a Cap, Tshirt, hoodie all kinds of cool Lucasfilm items from the employee store NOT available to the general public and last, if you turned around and found the ILM logo, you could bring home one of the official ILM CREWGEAR Tshirts, caps, posters pins etc ONLY given to those who work on Visual Effects for theis movies. A TRUE collectors piece. It was a honor to be able to do this for the fans and help spread my joy of having my dream come true and work for the studio I so admired growing up. DID YOU WIN SOMETHING ?
