- STEP 241 > Align the strip along the thickness edge starting just after the rounded corner.
- STEP 242 > Gently pull and position the strip to reach the other end. It should stop just before the start of the opposite side's rounded corner.
- STEP 243 > With the gluestick making the decal slightly slippery, you can wiggle it into perfect position if need be. Once it is, just press down with your finger from the centre to the respectful rounded corners. Add more pressure every time your finger passes to make sure the decal is well attached.
- STEP 244 > Use your fingernail technique to round the edges of your strips slightly, do this on both sides. but the most important view is the front side of the Large Blast Door.
- STEP 245 > This photo got mixed up in photoshop and should have appeared as step 240. It is basically to show you what your decal position should look like during your DRY RUN. So technically you should look at step 239 then this photo then return to step 240. Sorry for the confusion.
- STEP 246 > Your layer 1 frame is now complete.
- STEP 247 > Repeat the same steps and apply the side skin strips to your layer 4 frame.
- STEP 248 > You now need to make corner supports. You want to grab a scrap piece of foamcore, even one of the pop out centre works fine, and create a long 1cm tall strip. Then measure 2.5 cm intervals until you get 6 rectangles.
- STEP 249 > Start slicing along your 2.5 cm pencil marks.
- STEP 250 > You should now have 6 identical 1cm x 2.5 cm black foamcore pieces.
- STEP 251 > We are ready to assemble !!! 🙂 These are all the pieces you have built so far. Your 2 rectangle frames (layer 2 and 3) and 2 octagonal frames (layer 1 and4) 6 Doritos triangles and 6 1cm x 2.5 cm rectangles.
- STEP 252 > You will start by grabbing your octagonal layer 1 frame and 2 Doritos triangles. These will be placed in the corners like this to simulate the open Blast Doors. You want to make sure it sticks out about 1cm from the angled corner.
- STEP 253 > What it looks like from behind isn't important as no one will see this. Every corner will look different. What is important is the front view.
- STEP 254 > So after you make it stick out about 1 cm, this next step is crucial and is VERY IMPORTANT : THE ANGLE MUST MATCH THE ANGLE ON THE DOOR FRAME (red dotted lines). When it is positioned correctly, keep pressure on the Doritos as you flip it over.
- STEP 255 > Take your pencil and trace all around the Doritos where you can. This is to help you remember where it was placed correctly. Once you put the Hot Glue, you will have but seconds to attach it so having these markings will allow you to insert it in its spot very quickly before the Hot Glue cools off and cements it in place.
- STEP 256 > After your first tracing, you want to now go accross diagonally to the other side. This is where your 2nd Dorito will be attached.
- STEP 257 > Like before, place the Doritos triangle in the corner sticking out about 1 cm and MOST IMPORTANT - parallel -matching the angles of the frame's Blast Door corner.
- STEP 258 > Turn the frame around and trace around Doritos number 2 so that you will be ready to glue it rapidly in place.
- STEP 259 > Place a SMALL DOT of Hot Glue at the point of your Doritos triangle.
- STEP 260 > Quickly grab your octagonal layer 1 frame and align the Doritos with your pencil marks.
