dwc news  conventions Celebration II 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY !

Hey everyone, can you believe that today is 20 years !!! Yes !!! From the day I arrived in Indianapolis Indiana and started setting up the very first of my Star Wars Celebration Diorama Builders workshop booths.

20 years ago today my friend Lucie and I arrived at the convention centre in Indianapolis, Indiana for a weekend adventure that would forever change my life. Who would have known that a small diorama workshop, in a corner room that no one knew existed until they peeked their head inside – LOL – would be the start of 9 more to come spanning 2 decades of my life. I certainly didn’t.

First I need to thank Philip Wise (from RebelScum at the time) who put me into contact with Mary Franklin at Lucasfilm. He told her of the idea I had of creating a craft room for the kids AND adults who would come help me make a huge Mos Eisley diorama and then be able to bring home the piece they created as a souvenir on the sunday when the show closed. She loved it and the test was on. Mary was one of our biggest supporters and I truly owe her a huge debt of gratitude for the decades of memories she has given me. The Celebration Diorama Builders just kept growing and growing each convention to the point where fans started telling me our booth was the first thing they would check to see was still active before buying tickets and deciding to go to the convention. Now that is something that just tugs the heart 🙂

So my plan for you guys and girls is to try and experience this as if you were with me back in time. I will be posting Crew Photos here on the website daily on the days that they were taken 20 years ago. Starting with today – The Arrival and Booth Set up – which is already online. As a bonus, I will be activating the LIVE YouTube Fly on the Wall workshop camera allowing you to watch me film the Tutorial for 2 of the fan options of 2002 – Mos Eisley SMALL and LARGE houses (the edited tutorials will be uploaded during the next 2 weeks). The coverage will continue wit LIVE viewing party of the Lost Footage Documentary  and Reading of my Diary and Q&A to end the week.

If you were there with us in 2002 this week should bring you a lot of memories, if you never saw what we did – Some may not even have been norn yet ;P – YES I am THAT OLD LOL – Then this should be fun for you to see how it all started. I only wish the photos were higher res but we are celebrating an event that happened 20 years ago before i=phones and HD cameras and high speed internet.
