This scene was part of my Phase 2 Dioramas, this scene in a box is where I started to make them look closer to the movie sets but still compact enough to be placed on the 14″ deep shelves of my basement diorama room. I still used dollar store materials (which I still do today) but tried to spend more time using movie stills and magazine, book references to get the look closer without going too crazy.

The main memory I have of this scene is how much fun the background skin decal was to do. I love photoshop and trying to get it movie 100% was the only way to go. I think I pretty much nailed it 🙂 It’s a pretty big box for just 2 figures but such a pivotal scene in Empire, When I remake this one, I would keep the same design principle but for sure find a way to make those railings better. i really was never happy with that. There has to be a better way then Stereo cables and hot glue 🙂
