This scene was part of my first phase dioramas, where I didn’t bother with movie accuracy as long as it fit on the 14″ deep wall shelves of my basement diorama room.  Having never made dioramas before (apart from model kits as a kid) this technique using simple dollar store items and beginner techniques was a great way to slowly dip my toes into the Diorama hobby 🙂

This scene was part of my Phase 2 Dioramas, this scene in a box is where I started to make them look closer to the movie sets but still compact enough to be placed on the 14″ deep shelves of my basement diorama room. I still used dollar store materials (which I still do today) but tried to spend more time using movie stills and magazine, book references to get the look closer without going too crazy.

This scene was part of my Phase 3 design and construction : go FULL TILT MOVIE ACCURACY INSANITY 🙂 Hahahaha. This is the fun I have today, not caring where it fits LOL. As long as it looks exactly like the movie set but still using the traditional dollar store items that you have come to know and love from my builds. I could have gone high tech and make it 100% ILM accurate, but then, many of you could not continue to build your own for your own home. What is the fun in that ? 🙂  Since then I try to apply this thinking to all my dioramas now and that is half the fun, to push the envelope each time. Makes me smile when I see the figures inside the final scene.
