You can CLICK on ANY PHOTO above to see it Full Size. Sorry for the low res quality. These Classic NiubNiub era photos were taken way before high speed internet and today’s smart phones and HD cameras were available. But I thought still fun to see my history than not at all right ? 🙂 Use the side arrows to scroll through the photo gallery. X

This scene was part of my Phase 2 Dioramas, this scene in a box is where I started to make them look closer to the movie sets but still compact enough to be placed on the 14″ deep shelves of my basement diorama room. I still used dollar store materials (which I still do today) but tried to spend more time using movie stills and magazine, book references to get the look closer without going too crazy. X
BEFORE HASLAB 🙂 The main memory I have of this scene is Foamcore box. Wire mesh for sand dune is covered in plaster bandages. Once dried, 1 coat plaster of paris painted on with brush. Tan ocre paint covers plastered area. Once dry, I apply white glue and sprinkle sawdust to cover entire surface. Sail Barge made of foamcore and cardboard. Had a lot of fun with the Sarlaac Beast which I sculpted in Super Sculpey as well as the tentacles. Finally the pit itself was created using Plaster of Paris poured into model train “rock” molds available at all hobby stores. Heavy as hell, maybe next time I do it in Styrofoam like the Celebration V Hoth scenes. X
