This scene was part of my first phase dioramas, where I didn’t bother with movie accuracy as long as it fit on the 14″ deep wall shelves of my basement diorama room.  Having never made dioramas before (apart from model kits as a kid) this technique using simple dollar store items and beginner techniques was a great way to slowly dip my toes into the Diorama hobby ?

The main memory I have of this scene is how scared I was of my FIRST sculpting, the wall vents and the docking bay where Anakin’s ship is parked. I used fishing line to suspend the front end of the ships, the back was stuck into the dock so it would not fall. I coated the foamcore walls with Plaster of paris like I did for the Tatooine houses, but then I used a screw driver to scratch the pattern of bricks to make it look a little like the film. Today when rebuilding this, I would spend little extra more time to make it more accurate.

The movers destroyed this scene in the truck ? But I still have all the ships and the droids, and the sculpted docks, so I do plan down the road to make this again and now with HD cameras available, even film a VIDEO making of. I look forwards to building this again soon ?
