- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Last day of the convention and the fan line up is just as long as yesterday.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Police cruising to make sure nobody cuts in line ;P
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Just goes on and on and on, lucky for everyone it wasn't raining.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Here we go, we have reached the entrance of the Indianapolis convention centre.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > First step...clean off the tables surface 🙂 We decided to put chairs around the diorama so that people would not be able to get to close to the custom figures that would be populating it. With so many people expected, it would have been very hard to police everyone's actions.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > We sprayed tome spray adhesive to the table surface in order to limit the amount of sawdust in the air. Last thing I wanted was to cause everyone to sneeze. Hee hee. As you can see, sawdust works as a great sand substitute and is very very cheap. Like...FREE 🙂 when you cut wood.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > We spread the sawdust evenly to avoid big clumps. Once the buildings are in place we will add more sawdust to hide the joints and give it a natural look.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > 11:00 AM...First building in place is the Docking Bay 94. Since it was the biggest piece it was a logical choice to place all the other buildings around it.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Now where do we put the Cantina? In case you haven't noticed it is still un-plastered and painted - LOL. We had little less then one hour before show time so we decided to mix the paint in with the plaster. After getting our layout of the building, Jamie and his team went to work plastering it.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > The hardest part was to figure out where to place the buildings. It was also a lot of fun.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > A few buildings in place, but wait, that would look better here, let's move this one also. This is sooo confusing 🙂
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Picking up the tables while damp was tricky...some houses were just painted minutes before the display. The good news is that by the end of the show, they would be dry enough to take home.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Now we're cooking. Is this cool or what? We were still moving buildings around as we brought in new ones from the drying area. There were so many possibilities. The fans just made so many cool creations.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Jaimie waiting with the Cantina as I tell the helpers where to place the next buildings.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Chris and I deciding what hole we should fill next.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > How about right here.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > It was really cool to have many fans who built come and help set up the diorama, there is no way it would have been ready had I placed all the fan builds on the table myself.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > How does this look Chris ? maybe a little to the right?
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Looking at the table from the Docking Bay's angle. I think this building works nice here.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Since we ran out of time to plaster the Cantina, we got some helpers to hot glue foamcore anchors so that Jamie could just slap on the plaster directly onto it without it just sliding off if the surface was left sleek.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > oh here is Jabba's hotel 🙂
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Looking really cool, beyond my expectations.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > As we were setting up people were still piling in at a rapid pace. A big fan of the diorama builders, a very YOUNG Randy Falk from Neca can be seen somewhere in this photo ;P
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Many only had 1 day passes and hadn't seen the Diorama Gallery wall yet.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > This queue never slowed down in the 3 days of the convention. I guess people really like Dioramas 🙂
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Noon is creeping up fast, back to work on setting up the Mos Eisley diorama.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Looking good down this angle.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Making space for yet another building.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > So many buildings coming together. Looks almost like an ILM miniature 🙂
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Where can we fit this ? Space is getting tight.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Here is a cool gap that this would fit just perfectly.
- CONSTRUCTION DAY THREE - MAY 05 > Turn to the left, turn to the right, back to the left. Decide Frank decide LOL.
