- The calm before the storm 🙂 9 am no one is in the Queue lines yet as today is opening ceremonies, at noon, and the show only opens at 1 pm. It's always cool to walk around before the public and get to see the show in it's "ghost town" eeriness 🙂
- First thing we see newly set up is a sign on the rules of video and photo taking.
- Just around the entrance to the Hall to get to our booth, turn the corner and Aha! the first sign of a line up, These fans were here most likely since last night or very very early this morning. I don't know if I would have the patience to do this. The one advantage of working at the show 🙂
- Here we are... The Diorama Builders booth banner. Still makes me smile 🙂
- So with opening ceremonies at noon and the public arrival only at 1pm, we have a nice 4 hour window to tie things up that we didn't get a chance to finish yesterday.
- The booth is empty and clean but won't stay like this for very long once the public arrives 🙂
- Corner view looking at the construction zone, this is where all the hot glue action will take place.
- Filling the paint into individual 4oz bottles will make it easier for the kids to use, and a lot less messy. In theory 🙂
- Alyssa comes to inspect Braeden's work 😛 Quality control is always important LOL.
- On the diorama side, we have left out some tables to allow the crew to continue prepping and building prototype templates without disturbing and taking over the tables and space for the fans to use.
- Janelle working on th etemplates for the mini bunkers.
- Set up prototypes ready on display at the booth main entrance. This shows you how things are made and see if you find it matches your skill level.
- Placing the signage at the tables is the last important step.
- WARNING HOT GLUE !!! A precaution but for some, they have never used them before and knock on wood, in 17 years we only had ONE kid burn themselves, I will always remember that high pitch scream, like a Raptor, The autograph queue most likely even heard it was so loud.
- First thing you see when you arrive, the WELCOME SIGN. I have a lot of fun designing and making these.
- Placed some of Silof's Master Painting Classes mini posters. We started doing this 3 conventions ago and has become such a hit. The classes are ALWAYS FULL.
- Mini posters all around the diorama display side of the booth. Funny how even this year, many people think the diorama is built by only US< the CREW, and not the fans. Maybe need add NEW signs for that next time :)
- The tower as it stands today ready for detailing. I will be doing that as a group build for all who wanted to come.
- Jamie and Duke READY for action. Jamie aka (SILLOF in the custom social media world) has been with me from the start, came to build at C2 and helped so much, he came back as crew at C3 2005 and never missed ONE show, Duke we met at C4 as a winner of my ILM visit and lunch contest 2007 and has been with me as well every show after that.
- Mark and Alissa , both who have been helping me a long time. Mark at C4 2007 and Mrs P. came to build at C4 and C5 and joined up at C6 2012.
