- When you arrived at the main hall, it was not too hard to spot where the Fan Fair Hall was located 🙂 I wish I could have stolen - ugh, I mean, brought that banner home 🙂
- The entrance of the Diorama Workshop. Man a lot of work went into those panels, it's a shame I had to just leave them there on the floor on Sunday. I wonder what happened to them? Wonder if the cleaning crew brought them home and put them in their home cinema 🙂
- A close up of the Diorama Builders Schedule. At the end on Sunday I hid it in the back to bring home (like they gave us as our souvenirs at CII.) However, this time, at the last minute, Lucasfilm people came and took them away 🙁 No souvenir for NiubNiub this year. Guess too many were sold on Ebay 3 years ago.
- Let's get the party started !!! Not even 2 hours after opening, there was a flood of people who wanted to come and build their Death Star.
- After a rough start and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of STRESS, (did I mention LOTS - LOL) we figured out how to make it all work. Here we see where people picked up their Printed Decals.
- Watch out for those fingers 🙂
- April 21, 2005 Cool thing about the Diorama Workshop is that ALL ages come and participate. Just as they did at CII, Kids and Teens and Adults came by to participate.
- A jedi Master or Battlestar Gallactica's Adama ? 😛
- More people trickling in. Along the walls you could admire Dioramas from the site. To the right I had my original Death Star Dioramas on display to help you select your construction.
- Come afternoon, all the table spaces were full. We had to send people back and ask them to return a few hours later. It was awesome to see the response.
- The Hot Glue Gun table was where all the pieces came together. And thankfully no one got burned. I think I must be the only clumsy one who gets Hot Glue on his fingers LOL.
- Rogue Squadron helping Create the Death Star? Should it not be Destroying? 😛
- Cutting up the Printed Decals and figuring out where top put them. this is one area I wish I had had more time to prepare. I would have been less stressed had there been blueprints and printed, catalogue style, step by step booklets to help out.
- Some fans decided to tackle some more complicated rooms like the Red Control Room.
- This is what gets ME all fuzzy inside, seeing a Diorama come to life. Looks just like in the film doesn't it? 😀
- Cutting more decals.
- More construction...
- Here I am putting together the Falcon Docking Bay prototype I created back home in Montreal.
- A closer view of the Docking Bay. See how cool the Hallway looks through the open Blast doors? 🙂 A fan fave with the photo ops, was the stormtrooper falling into the Elevator shaft.
- Once the rooms were completed, we started gathering in the rear or the workshop. Don't these look cool? 😀
- One of the 2 High Res images I found, if you took some photos please email me so I can share them here in the gallery - with your permission of course 🙂
- One cool thing about uploading photos 13 years after the convention - yes procrastination IS my WORST fault - is that you look at these photos and recognize fans who have been coming to every workshop since this and in some cases like this one, Jack and his mom Juan ask to join the crew to help out at Celebration V (until they realize how much work it is and don't have the time to build anything themselves 😛 It sure is more fun to be a BUILDER than a CREW member 🙂
