Every convention has a downside, and today is that day 🙂 Getting to the Montreal airport to fly to Orlando, rush to the hotel, rush to pick up all the purchased Art Supplies and pack them into the rental van, rush to the convention center, find your loading dock, unload the entire load, rush back to the rental company before they close at 7pm. The Core Crew doesn’t arrive until tomorrow, the day before the public arrives, so I do all this running around by myself, along with 2 special friends, Local Philip Kelly who has allowed me to use his home as the diorama builders shipping address (can you imagine if I had to go buy all of this the day before as well as all the other stuff) and Fletch Arnold, who took his day off to drive me around town and help me move all the stuff. They really were my heroes today..
.
.
- In the plane, leaving Montreal super early in the morning for my 5 hour flight to Orlando
- Right after my plane landed in Orlando, Fletch came to pick me up, go to U-Haul and help me get to Philip's house.
- ALL of our ART SUPPLIES that I ordered from Montreal were shipped to my friend's Philip's house.
- All of these bags need to be loaded in the mini van and...
- All this styrofoam as well. Two stacks taller then we are. After 2 days, we ran out and had to go buy THIS SAME quantity on the Thursday night !
- Oh that's not all - by a long shot...
- Philip's ENTIRE closet was filled with MORE Art Supplies and FAN DONATIONS !!!
- A quick check of my Bumper Sticker Decals that had arrived just this morning. Cool !!! But I forgot to keep one for myself for my OWN collection - DUH - Dumb NiubNiub LOL.
- After about 2 hours there is almost zero space left inside the van. Please all fit in ONE trip 🙂
- We had to do 14 trips back and forth to empty the appartment.
- Philip squeezing the last of the boxes in between the side door and styrofoam stack.
- The styrofoam filled the entire half of the U-Haul van from floor to tippy top of the ceiling !!!
- In the back you can see all the Fan Toy Donations. I was AMAZED at how many donations we received. Thank you again SO SO much.
- Look at these donations !!! Star Wars fans are the BEST. The kids are so lucky to get all this on the Sunday.
- Arriving at the convention center loading dock. Good we have a spot to go in right away.
- 100 feet inside the convention center looking out to the dock. Remember Frank where we parked 🙂
- If I need a drink, this is where to come 😛
- Man is this place HUGE ! I just love walking around before you guys get to come in.
- The coolest part of organizing these workshops, is being able to have the luxury of walking around as everyone is putting together their own sections.
- Getting warmer... My first glimpse of a Star Wars sign... This is for real - I'm actually doing another Diorama Workshop 🙂
- Keep walking, at least 5-10 minutes now. Are we there yet ?
- The energy level is so high and anticipation for the fans to arrive is just great.
- Wonder what is inside this booths crates ? Maybe the Ark ? 😛
- Yes we are here - Look at ALL thos tables !!!
- False alarm, it's just the autograph area. This will be filled with THOUSANDS of fans in 2 days.
- Now where is our booth ? Do I see TONS of TABLES in the distance? ;p
- Oh yeah, this looks more like it, 100's of tables like I submitted in our floor plan...
- Here we go ... This is where we were located this year.
- Right in the MAIN HALL less then 100 feet from the HASBRO booth. Now how cool is that?
- The workstations section. Sooo many tables and chairs. Who is that man sitting at MY booth ? How rude 😛
- On this side is the Diorama Display, OUTSIDE Hoth at the far end and INSIDE Echo Base closer the right.
- Fletch not far behind me with the first of MANY trips we will have to do to empty the van.
- On the Top Left corner of the workshop, is where the INSIDE of the Rebel Base will be with the Main hangar and hundreds of hallways, Medical center and TaunTaun pens.
- These tables on the left is where the OUTSIDE of Hoth will be. with the AT-AT attack and Snowspeeders, Trenches and Rebel Soldiers.
- Walking around to the other side of the booth we can see our ENTRANCE set up. Nice.
- Sooo many tables and look at this GREAT SPACE !!! And WHO the HELL is THAT MAN in MY booth 😛
- Before the day ends, We have to unload the entire truck so that we can sort it out tomorrow. Here we have most of the Art Supplies spread out on the "Inside" Table area.
- Hundreds of Dollar Store LED Light Strips are ready for the "U" Hallways.
- Tons of Stereo Cables will add movie realism to the Hallways.
- And of course our Styrofoam !!! Now I can go return the U-Haul truck, check into my hotel room and wait for my friends to arrive and late dinner.
