- STEP 001 > Here are all the materials you will need to build your Hallway Round Wall Panels. I forgot to put GLUESTICK in there but you must already have that in your art supplies by now.
- STEP 002 > Print your blueprints from the website's tutorial menu. You will see that the SMALL and LARGE Wall Panels are the same technique to build just different widths.
- STEP 003 > Let's start with the SMALL ROUND WALL PANEL. First thing we need to create the top and bottom half circles.
- STEP 004 > Grab a small scrap strip of foamcore and place 2 dots 3cm apart.
- STEP 005 > Use your thumbtack to pierce tiny holes on both of your dots.
- STEP 006 > With a freshly sharpened pencil, place it in the 2nd hole and poke it through. If you spin you pencil as you push it goes through a lot better.
- STEP 007 > Keep pushing until you see the tip poke out the other end of the foamcore strip.
- STEP 008 > Now grab your thumbtack and place it in the first hole. then place it in the center of a piece of foamcore - scrap is ok - as long as it is minimum 7-8 cm square.
- STEP 009 > You can now spin your pencil to create your circle. If the pushpin is loose you can press down on it as you spin the pencil.
- STEP 010 > Now take your ruler and align it against the centre hole.
- STEP 011 > Now draw a line down the ruler with your pencil.
- STEP 012 > Time to cut. The MOST IMPORTANT THING : DO NOT angle your blade right or left, try to keep a perfect straight 90' angle.
- STEP 013 > Also when you sut, when you cut with a longer surface (with your blade fully extended and at a very low angle like in the photo, your cuts are much sharper and clean.
- STEP 014 > DON'T cut your foamcore at a high angle like this. You have bigger chance to tear the foamcore and your edges will look like the AERO chocolate bar.
-
STEP 015 > When you start to cut your circle, a great technique is to slice it in small sections. You don't want to cut all the way around in one take, first of all your wrist won't be able to bend that much 🙂
For the FIRST CUT, slice into the foamcore until you reach the circle line, then spin a little for about inch or so distance ( RED MARKS in the PHOTO ) then deviate from the circle and go straight to the outside of your foamcore piece.
- STEP 016 > Spin your foamcore to the left (if you are right handed like me) and then start from where the circle shape ended in your previous cut. Then repeat cutting a small amout along the line - 1 inch or so - then head towards the outside in a straight line.
- STEP 017 > Eventually you will have but one small corner to slice off.
- STEP 018 > You now have a circle 🙂
- STEP 019 > Place your ruler against your cutting guide line...
- STEP 020 > And slice all the way through. Works best with a NEW blade but WATCH OUT FOR YOUR FINGERS !!! You don't want to cut yourself and wind up in the hosital emergency. Trust me, I've been there, done that, not fun.
